Hi! Welcome to Ken’s Creations. I’m Kennedi, a self taught home cook and baker. I’ve been in love with food and cooking for as long as I can remember, so the kitchen has always been a good friend of mine. When I’m bored it’s a fun new adventure, when I’m sad it’s a healing place of comfort, and when I’m happy it’s how I celebrate. Cooking fuels my soul and its how I add luxury to my everyday life. There’s no better feeling than being able to make my wildest dreams a reality in the kitchen.
I grew up obsessed with food and good eating; I was practically born a foodie. Every night as a child I went to bed wondering what would be for breakfast and dinner the following day. Some of my earliest memories are of being in the kitchen with my mom and grandma. Its pull on me was magnetic. I wanted to be in there with them to watch and help, eyes wide taking it all in, stealing a taste every now and then, mouth watering in excitement to eat. As soon as I was old enough I continued on to participate in multiple cooking programs after school and over the summer. Now as an adult I spend majority of my free time dreaming up and executing new dishes. Ken’s Creations is a tribute to that mischievous little girl who was always inquisitive and excited about food and a celebration of the woman she’s growing into. My style of cooking is about exploring and feeling your way through the kitchen, embracing childlike curiosity and letting creativity shine while learning along the way.
My mother was my first teacher, who learned most of what she knew from my grandma and great aunts. She would rave about their ability to make anything delicious. Spending time with my mom in the kitchen I watched as she improvised her way through preparing a meal never daring to reach for a measuring tool. Everything she made was with the perfect amount of spontaneity and tradition, expressing her pride in where she came from and the incredible women who raised her. This sentiment is the backbone of my cooking.
For me, being a good cook or even simply making a nice meal is also deeply tied to emotion. Most times I feel my way through the kitchen, trusting my gut and following whatever excites me in that moment. Strong emotions have always been my best guide to the perfect meal. Over time I’ve been able to use this emotional tie to strengthen my chefs intuition, allowing me to approach any dish with confidence.
Whether you’re new to the kitchen or an experienced chef, anyone can be inspired here. Let my recipes be the guide that take you wherever you want to go. There is no task too big or small for me in the kitchen. Wanna spend all day and maybe some of the next pouring your blood sweat and tears into the most flavorful meal you ever had? Look no more.
